Designer Spotlight: Thea Knitwear

How did you get started in the knitwear business ?  Who is the Thea target client ?

I got started during Covid. For 25 years I have had a travelling boutique with curated designers and when Covid hit I couldn’t travel so decided to try designing with someone I met in Paris who lives in Nepal. Now I am on my 4th season and am just loving it. My Thea target client is any age woman who doesn't wear  trend but loves luxe feeling, casual hand-loomed pieces that are timeless and ageless.

Where do you find your inspiration?

My inspiration is usually what I want to be wearing - shapes and fabrications -
I also am inspired by seeing extremely minimal  architecture and Black and White photo exhibits.

What is your hope for the future of the fashion industry?

Less about the ‘youth culture’ and more about WOMEN.

What is your favorite museum in LA ?

The Getty. I am always blown away by that gorgeous White Travertine museum on a hill and taking the tram up - seeing the beauty of Los Angeles.

The last movie or streaming show you watched that moved you ?

A Place to Call Home - an Australian series.

If you were stuck with the choice of one breakfast for the rest of your life what would it be ?

Crepes from Breizh in the Marais in Paris. I could have them every day (and do when I visit Paris)

Thus far what has been your favorite trip in your life ?  and why ?

Ravello, Italy - and walking The Path Of The Gods on Amalfi - a birthday trip with a friend - that I will never forget!

What is your main source of calm/distraction during these strange times?

Working out 4 x a week in the early morning at the beach - and then taking Thea on a long walk on the beach path. Also seeing the ocean during these strange times has totally gotten me thru these past two years.
