Nonchi Cashmere - Virgin Baby Cashmere Sweaters from the Netherlands
Nonchi is a Dutch cashmere label founded by Famke, who grew up learning design and craftsmanship from her grandmother. The two still work together, with Famke designing each collection and her grandmother contributing years of experience to every piece. A Nonchi collection begins with a journey, and its palette comes from the colors and atmosphere of the destination behind it.
Virgin baby cashmere is the fine undercoat combed from a young cashmere goat in its first spring in the Himalayas. That first combing yields the finest fiber the goat will ever grow, and it can be collected only once, since the coat that grows back is never as fine. The fibers are long as well as fine, which gives a Nonchi sweater its strength and allows it to grow softer over years of wear.
The cashmere comes from Kashmir, the region that gave cashmere its name, where the fiber is known locally as pashmina and artisans have worked it for generations. All Nonchi cashmere is certified under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and its fiber composition is verified independently by Intertek. Nonchi sweaters are part of Roztayger's collection of sweaters and outerwear from independent European designers.
